Natural Disaster Assistance
By Lynette LeGarde
Have you been affected by any of the natural disasters which include hurricanes, wildfires or earthquakes happening in the world at the moment? There is help for tribal members that are affected by these events. The Ho-Chunk Nation Social Services Intake is a resource for you. The Ho-Chunk Nation Social Services Intake will start the research process and outreach to find funding from various organizations (FEMA, American Red Cross, etc.) that can assist you. If you are affected by these natural disasters or you know of a tribal member that is in need of support you can contact the Ho-Chunk Nation Social Services Intake office at 715-284-7749.
The Ho-Chunk Nation also has an Emergency Management Division that will assist tribal members with finding federal, state or county agency assistance during these natural disasters. You can contact the Emergency Management Division at 715-284-5877 ext. 1153.
The FEMA Emergency Lodging Assistance Program will pay for hotels for individuals in Texas. The contact number for the FEMA ELA program is 1-866-545-9865 or email
