New Year’s Eve Sobriety Powwow welcomes in the New Year

By Gary Garvin

Well more than 175 people rang in the New Year at the Ho-Chunk Nation New Year’s Eve Sobriety Powwow at the House of Wellness, Wisconsin Dells.
At the Ho-Chunk Nation House of Wellness the four time world champion host drum, Ho-Chunk Station, were joined by drums from Red Lake, Lac Courte Oreilles, Wisconsin Rapids, and Wisconsin Dells.
The event promoted sobriety and solidarity among native and non-native people.
For many people New Year’s Eve marks a time to reflect on the accomplishments made in the previous 12 months and to look forward to future resolutions and goals.
“We are just trying to bring in the New Year in a positive way, that’s all you know?” stated Arena Director Garrick Cleveland Sr.
