Legislative Redistricting Update
By Lynette LeGarde
There is still time to submit a redistricting scenario to the Ho-Chunk Nation. Submissions will be accepted from Ho-Chunk Nation tribal members until April 13, 2018 at 4:30pm. Submissions can be sent to Jeff Crone at
Jeff.Crone@ho-chunk.com
or Ho-Chunk Nation Legislative Office, Attn: Jeff Crone, P.O. Box 667, Black River Falls, Wisconsin 54615. There are tools to assist with the redistricting planning process on the Ho-Chunk Nation website. There is a blank redistricting map, guidelines for redistricting, and a formula for redistricting available on Ho-ChunkNation.com.
A Redistricting Open Forum will be held for tribal members to explain in detail about their redistricting scenario submissions on April 30, 2018. This will be time to share your vision of the new districts for the Ho-Chunk Nation.
The Legislature will hold a Special Legislative Meeting in May to select the scenarios from the submitted redistricting scenarios. Presentations of the scenarios will be conducted in June and July at the District Meetings. A Special Election will occur in the fall of 2018. Be sure to get your submissions in! We look forward to seeing everyone at the Redistricting Open Forum in April!! Have a great week!
