HHCDA extends the COVID-19 rental assistance program

By Ardith Van Riper

The Ho-Chunk Housing and Community Development Agency (HHCDA) announced a one-time rental assistance program in April in response to the COVID-19 virus and the declared state of emergency.  This rental assistant program now extends to two payments for those applicants approved between April 24 and August 3, 2020.

The Indian Housing Block Grant Program CARES Act funds this rental assistance program.

Those requesting a second payment from the COVID-19 rental assistance program must complete a one-page application.  Request the one-page form from HHCDA at 608-374-1245, extension 8813 or email Patti.Emery@ho-chunk.com.

An applicant will need to reapply by completing the original application again if personal information has changed, landlord information has changed, rent amount has changed, or income has changed.

Eligibility requirements include annual income must not exceed the low-income limits set by HUD, reside in the 14 county service area or District 4, and be an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe.

The grant amount will not exceed $700 for the monthly rent or a maximum of $1,400 for two months.

Additional information and program applications are located on their website at HHCDA.com.
