HELP extended through December 2021 for tribal members and employees to receive Pandemic Relief Pay

By Ardith Van Riper

The Ho-Chunk Nation Legislative Branch posted two significant announcements on June 22.  The first stated all employees of the Ho-Chunk Nation active on December 31, 2020, and continuously employed through June 22, 2021, will receive a one-time payment of $500.  The second stated the Ho-Chunk Economic Legacy Project (HELP) is extended through December 2021.

The HCN Legislature authorized Pandemic Relief Pay to eligible employees who are employed with the Ho-Chunk Nation, Ho-Chunk Housing and Community Development Agency, First Nations Community Financial, Ho-Chunk Transportation Authority, and the Children’s Learning Village Montessori Academy.  The HCN Department of Treasury is processing this one-time payment soon.

The HELP was established in 2020 by Legislature to achieve a social benefit and promote the Nation’s general welfare.  Payments of $700 were processed for enrolled members of the Ho-Chunk Nation age 18 years or older who applied for the program.

Those receiving these HELP payments do not need to re-apply to continue receiving payments.  However, individuals should contact Treasury at 715-284-7720 extension 11223 or 11215 if they experience any issues in receiving payments.

Those needing to apply should visit Ho-ChunkNation.com and click on Ho-Chunk Economic Legacy Program.  From there, you will find an Electronic Application.
