The Ho-Chunk Nation Legislature allocated funding for the
Ho-Chunk Nation’s Pre K-12 Grant Program to assist students with necessary
costs for the upcoming school year. The
funding amount per student decreased and is for nine specific grants.
The Pre K-12 Educational Grant Program is wholly funded by
the Net Profit Distribution funds of the Ho-Chunk Nation. Typically, on an annual basis the Ho-Chunk
Nation Legislature appropriates funds to provide additional education
opportunities for enrolled children in grades Pre-School through grade 12.
Each Ho-Chunk enrolled student between the ages of 3-18 is
eligible for this program. All
applications are subject to approval and funding availability. Grants are awarded on a first come, first
served basis until the available funds have been spent.
The limit for the 2020-21 year is $2,000 per student. This amount used to be $2,500.
Funding will run through November 2020 for the following
nine grants:
1. Tuition Assistance
2. School Supplies
3. School Meal Costs
4. Public School Fees
5. Musical Instrument Rental/Lease
6. Graphing Calculators
7. High School Graduation Expenses
8. Driver’s Education
9. Internet Access Support
