Annual Meeting of the General Council 2021 updates

     The Annual Meeting of the General Council is scheduled for Saturday, December 11 at the Wisconsin Center, 400 W. Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53203.  Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.

     There are bus routes scheduled for tribal members, and reservations opened November 18.  Elders have priority.  Contact your Planning Workgroup representative with questions.

     The General Council Planning Workgroups representatives are District 1 is Kelly J. Funmaker, District 2 are Patty Lowe-Ennis and Melanie Stacy, District 3 are Roxanna Metoxen and Brittany Greendeer, and District 4 is Ben Krause-Decorah.

     For those riding a bus, there are a few rules in place.  Masks are required at all times.  Proof of COVID vaccine required at boarding.  Snacks and drinks are welcomed.  No alcohol.  No drugs.  All buses leave the Wisconsin Center at 6:30 p.m.

     The Office of General Council Branch Facebook page offers parking information around the Wisconsin Center for those traveling in their vehicles.  Parking is free at Potawatomi, and a shuttle will run to the Wisconsin Center from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

     Special room rates are available at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee for $89.00 when mentioning code G-HCNM.  Call 474-276-1234 to make reservations.  The Hyatt Regency is located at 333 West Kilbourn Avenue in Milwaukee 53203. 

     The Ho-Chunk Nation Office of Enrollment will not be present at the 2021 General Council Meeting.  Tribal members may utilize expired tribal identification cards, a CDIB if accompanied by a photo ID, or a Ho-Chunk Nation HELP paystub if accompanied by a photo ID for registration.

     A breakfast, lunch bento box, afternoon snack, coffee, tea, and water will be served during the day.

     Besides the Notice of Intent to Remove from Office (page 5), no General Council Resolutions were submitted to the Hocak Worak for publication.  However, the Office of General Council stated they have three resolutions and those will be posted on the Ho-Chunk Nation’s website at some point.

     A payout of $150 to attendees has been approved and will occur when an in-person quorum is met.

     There are voting machines available to registered participants.

     People attending the Annual Meeting of the General Council are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines for large indoor gatherings.  This means to wear a mask, even if you are fully vaccinated.
