Ho-Chunk Nation Election Board Vacancy Announcement


The Ho-Chunk Nation Election Board is seeking individuals to fill upcoming vacancies in the following districts:

  District I - Black River Falls Delegate and Alternate
District II - Tomah Delegate and Alternate
District II – La Crosse Delegate and Alternate
District III – Wittenberg Delegate and Alternate
District IV – Madison Delegate and Alternate
District IV – Wisconsin Dells Delegate and Alternate
District IV – Milwaukee Delegate and Alternate
District IV – Wisconsin Rapids Delegate and Alternate
District V – Chicago Delegate and Alternate
District V – Minneapolis/ St. Paul Delegate and Alternate

Individuals may be nominated at their local area meetings and submit a letter of interest as well as qualifying information by October 25, 2004.

Chapter 8. HCN Election Board Delegates/Alternates
Sec. 801 – The Election Board shall conduct all General Council and Special Elections in a fair and impartial manner.
801.1 – Shall notify the voters of the polling places not less than 15 days before the elections.
801.2 – Shall ensure that all candidates meet the qualifications for office.
801.3 – No member of the Election Board may actively campaign for the nomination, election or recall of any elected Official.
801.4 – The Election Board shall seek, uphold and adhere to the terms of the HCN Election Board Ordinance.
801.5 – Two consecutive unexcused absences for duly called Board meetings shall result in automatic removal from the board unless the absent Board Member establishes to the satisfaction of the Board good cause for his/her absence.
801.6 – Must be an adult enrolled Ho-Chunk Tribal Member.
801.7 – All Election Board members shall serve a two (2) year or until their successors have been chosen. Election Board Members may serve more than one term.
801.8 – Must be bondable.
801.9 – Proof of motor vehicle operator’s license/insurance are required.
