MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

George R. Lewis
Ho-Chunk Wonk Sheek we la

This past year, the Ho-Chunk Nation has participated in events that will forever affect the future of the Ho-Chunk Nation’s economic base. The major event was the signing of the perpetual Compact with the State of Wisconsin.   This Compact provides the Ho-Chunk Nation with confidence to assure more stability to our gaming businesses and increase employment security. With the changes that follow these events come new responsibilities and obligations for our business enterprises.  These changes will be challenging and exiting. For example, this Administration has already made changes in the management of the gaming facilities meant to introduce new policies to stimulate the production of revenue.

As a result of these changes in personnel and policies, we anticipate that the facilities will increase revenue to meet revenue projections. For this purpose, accountability of each employee is now being strictly enforced.  These changes are meant to provide a more secure employment environment for the Nation’s dedicated employees.

The past year has also presented some degree of uncertainty regarding the employment status of the Nation’s front-line employees.  I want to assure each employee that this Administration will support commitments of continued employment and related benefits.  In return, this Administration expects all employees to cooperate and faithfully adhere to prudent business policies and strategies.

At this time, I want to take the opportunity to thank every employee of the Ho-Chunk Nation for their patience, understanding and trust in this Administration and other decision-makers of the Ho-Chunk Nation. This Administration acknowledges that each individual employee is part of the life-blood of the Nation’s revenue producing businesses.  Because of your trust and faithful support, the Ho-Chunk Nation’s economic base is becoming more accountable and thus more stable.

In honor of the New Year, I resolve to support incentives for all employees to increase the profitability of our businesses. We need incentive programs that reward employees who can show that, by their individual efforts, the Nation has increased its overall revenue and expanded its profits.  If we can continue to meet projections and provide sufficient profit to support the Nation and its programs, then, incentives should be provided to employees for a job well done.

Because of this Administration’s insistence on implementing innovative business and marketing strategies, the Nation should experience an increase in revenue. This increase will be a direct result of our dedicated employees faithfully applying these strategies.  These employees are dedicated to successfully implementing the changes made by this Administration in response to the requests of the Nation’s people and the goals set by its government.  It is because of the trust of our faithful employees that we are able to face the Nation’s new economic challenges with optimism and confidence.   May God bless us all in the coming year.

We invite additional insights, suggestions and comments.  Pi ni gi gi.
