I’m b-b-a-c-k-k. Here’s the new scoop. What ever you do this summer you can’t miss the Ho-Chunk Casino’s outdoor summer Concert series. What a rush. They have everything set up for you and your family. Rooms, fantastic food, gambling and now the latest is this outdoor theater with a variety of Bands and music groups. Saturday , Aug 10, I took in the Jonny Lang Concert. The opening act was the Ho-Chunk Native American Dance theater group. If you haven’t seen it yet, I encourage you to do so. I could tell that the crowd was quite taken with all the beautiful outfits and performance that was displayed.

The crowd was screaming “Jonny Lang, Johnny Lang” finally the young blues vocalist, acoustic and electric guitar, and electric sitar player swept the stage. For the rest of the show there was no time for sitting down, it was more like getting down.

A few years ago I attended a concert for Aerosmith. That is where I first saw and heard Jonny as the opwning act at Alpine Valley.

After the first song he sang, I was hooked all over again. Jonny Lang’s music can be described as “intense” and “genuine.”

This young man of 21 years old, I swear he pulls out a seasoned guitar player and veteran Rhythm and Blues singer, right out of himself.

I was lucky enough to meet him this time after the concert. He told me, “I started play at age 12,” and “I grew up outside Fargo, North Dakota in Casselton.” I asked him “Of all the songs he sings which one is his favorite?” He said, “I like them all, but I guess I have to pick ‘I am’ (name of the song that he picked) for my own reasons.” I also ask “as a celebrity what project if any oes he support?” Jonny said “Thank you for asking.” Jonny went on to tell me he is actively involved in Camp Heart land. This is a place that gives children living with HIV or AIDS a much needed break. For more about Camp Heartland, visit their website at: http://www.campheartland.com.
