TAU's Annual Elders picnic
by Cookie LaMere
Design Director

There were elders from all areas of the Ho-Chunk Nation, at Dexter Park in Dexterville, WI, on July 17, 2002. The day was Takac (hot). However as in their everyday life, the elders took the day in stride

Tribal Aging Unit Advisory Board members are as follows: Mary Ann Yazzie, chairperson; Dolli Big John, secretary; Cynthia Decorah, LaCrosse; Carlos Funmaker, Nekoosa; Lillian Thundercloud, Wisconsin Dells; Alvina Bolinski, At Large; Gretchen Eagleman, Black River Falls; Wayne Funmaker, Wittenburg; Annabelle Lowe, Black River Falls; Janette Smoke, Tomah; Helen Wagner, Wisconsin Dells; Dorothy Young, Nekoosa.

The different TAU meal sites prepared the food. Pina gigi, to all those who had a hand in the preparation of the meal. As always it was delicious.

After the meal the elders came together to play there most favorite pass time game…BINGO! Prizes were given to the winners. Congratulations to all the lucky winners. Bingo caller Crystal Wilson stated "I want all you elders to know that I'm just warming you all up for the evening session where ever you might go to play tonight." Laughter filled the area outside as well as the inside of the shelter. Crystal's jolly disposition helped the elders enjoy their day.
