TERO celebrates 25 years
The Council for Tribal Employment Rights (CTER), held its annual National TERO Convention June 16-19, 2002 at Ho-Chunk Casino Hotel and Convention Center in Baraboo, WI.

Recognition banquet held for Tae Kwon Do participants 2001-2002
On the early evening of June 27th 2002, as some of the participants arrived for a Tae Kwon Do recognition banquet, looks of anticipation for the Banquet to begin were some of the same that one would see when the athletes are getting ready to spar.

Ho-Chunk youth honored
For sixteen-year-old Marcus Lewis of Black River Falls, WI, one of over 900 young men at the recently concluded Badger Boys State, the annual "civics lesson" held at Ripon College, Ripon WI, was an especially rewarding experience.

"The Hammer" ponders his future
Harry "The Hammer" Funmaker won by a unanimous decision against Dan Kosmicki at the "Duel in the Dells", a boxing venue presented by Top Rank, Inc & Ho-Chunk Casino at the Ho-Chunk Convention Center, June 25th.

Native made arts and crafts important to tourism
Speaking at the Second Annual Native American Tourism Conference held recently at the Ho-Chunk Casino Hotel and Convention Center, Beth Bashara, Director of the Oneida Nation Arts Board and Ed Hall, from the BIA Division of Transportation, outlined the role that Native arts and crafts have in the tourism industry.

Indian Journalism Program helps students
'Indian journalists are more than story tellers, they represent a voice for their people.'  This was the common thread among students attending the American Indian Journalism Institute, a program of The Freedom Forum Neuharth Center.

Gaming Commissioners reappoints two members
On June 27, 2002 Ho-Chunk Gamming Commissioners Sandra Smalley and Sharon Whitebear were officially reappointed to their positions.
Ho-Chunk Nation named "Employer of the Year"
With the ongoing support of tribal government, the 477 Federal Program Department of Labor was recognized as "Employer of the Year".

RADD coach Erwin Begay recognized
Erwin Begay, whose vision led to the creation of the Nation's Youth Marathon Running Team (RADD), was recognized for his efforts. 

From photo to canvas
Tribal member Jodi Webster is an artist. For the person and the artist, the last nine months has been an exciting, rewarding, learning experience.
