2002 Ho-Chunk Charity Golf Classic a success
On June 10, 2002 the Ho-Chunk Nation hosted the First Annual Ho-Chunk Charity Golf Classic, an event held to benefit the Special Olympics of Wisconsin and the Maxi Fund, founded by Green Bay Packer legend Max McGee and his wife Denise, to support the treatment of diabetes and research the genetic factors that may cause the disease.

Selling and promoting the Ho-Chunk culture
Determined to promote her culture and the work of fellow Ho-Chunk craftspeople and artisans, Gayle Sather opened her business, The Last Place on Earth in February 2002.

Teaching culture and tradition in the big city
As part of the Ho-Chunk Nation's effort to teach ALL its younger members the culture, history and tradition of the tribe, Cultural Resources Division Director, Susette LaMere traveled to Milwaukee recently giving the first in a series of presentations to students at the Milwaukee Study Center.

477 career choices
On June 11th 2002, Max Vang, a Student Services Support Counselor of Western Wisconsin Technical College was in the Ho-Chunk Nation Executive building from 9am-11am. to discuss and assists individuals regarding program admission and registration, career enhancements, and personal counseling.

Tribes look to promote their culture through tourism
As non-Natives in both the United States and the rest of the world express a greater interest in learning more about the Native American culture and tradition, new opportunities await tribes willing to work on promoting their tradition and culture to an eager audience.

Talks continue regarding Powers Bluff
At the June meeting of the Wood County Park and Forestry Commission issues relating to Powers Bluff (Skunk Hill) dominated the agenda.

The moving wall
On Friday, June 7th, I took my camera, left the Executive Building in Black River Falls and headed east to Arcadia, WI. My purpose was to visit the "Moving Wall", a half-size replica of the Washington, D.C. Vietnam Veteran's Memorial.
