On April 17, 2002, Mark Butterfield was sworn in as the first non Ho-Chunk member of the Nation’s Supreme Court.

The Clan Mothers project
In 1996, when social worker Myrtle Long started to work with the Nation’s troubled and at-risk children, there was only the Traditional Court of male elders handling issues concerning the well-being of children.

HCN hosts Governor's Forum
Leaders and officials from Native tribes across Wisconsin came together at the Ho-Chunk Convention Center in Baraboo, WI on April 16, 2002, asking questions and exchanging ideas with five candidates hoping to become the state’s next governor.
