Nation's redistricting remains unsettled
Following a February decision by Associate Trial Court Judge Todd Matha that challengers to the January 12, 2002 Redistricting Election results did not supply sufficient evidence supporting their argument, the challengers, Demetrio Abangan, Stewart J. Miller and Brenda Neff appealed the decision, taking their case before the Nation’s Supreme Court.

Shawano County approves trust land application
On March 28, 2002 it became official. Following a vote of 21-7 by the Shawano (WI) County Board in favor of the application, the Ho-Chunk Nation, following a year of negotiations with county officials, transferred 332 acres of its property within the county into trust land status.
