During Black River Falls High School's annual homecoming parade held October 5, 2001 the Ho-Chunk Nation's youth marathon team, "Runners Against Drunk Driving" (RADD) marched through the city, parading their new team flag and colors.

Members of the team, named to honor the memory of former teammate, Louella Blackdeer, have taken it upon themselves to take up the fight against drinking and driving.

Designed by graphic artist, Ken Lewis, the flag was created to give the runners their own identity as they train and compete throughout the year.

Runners carrying the flags of the United States, the Ho-Chunk Nation and the team led the way as teammates followed in a wagon pulled by horses guided by Bill Hopinka of Whirling Thunder Equestrian Center.

Following words of encouragement offered by Greg Garvin from the Office of the President, Coach Erwin Begay told the team "Louella would be proud", reminding them not to lose the really good feelings that surround the team. Begay added that 20 youth from various areas are currently on the team, working out every Saturday and preparing for their return trip to Hawaii, where some of the members will again run in the "Honolulu Marathon" this December.

Begay thanked the runners and their families for their commitment to the team, perhaps the Nation's most recognizable youth group. He concluded the new flag and colors will give the runners a greater sense of pride, honor and accomplishment.
