On December 6, 2000 the Ho-Chunk youth marathon team, "Runners Against Drunk Driving", will be trading the cold winds of Wisconsin for the warm breezes of Hawaii, as they prepare to run in the "Honolulu Marathon" scheduled for December 10th. In addition to running in the 26-mile event, the runners, coaches and parents making the trip plan on holding a memorial service honoring former team member, Louella Blackdeer, killed in a car accident last spring.

Coach Irwin Begay announced the following runners will be participating in the event: Heather Hillmer, Lena L. Funmaker, Sheena M. Kasames, Jonelle Smith, Verna Blackdeer, Pauline A. Lucero, Cody M. Murphy, Duncan Rave, Jordon L. Vidana, and Cara Lee Murphy.

Following a few days of sight-seeing and relaxing, the team will be returning to Wisconsin on December 12th.
